Manchester United have received a heavy blow to their summer transfer plans after Toni Kroos confirmed that he wants to stay at Bayern Munich next season.

Kroos has widely been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with some suggesting that a deal has already been agreed in principle for the German.

The 24-year-old has now sought to put an end to all speculation about his future and said that he was never thinking about a move to Manchester United.

"There was a lot of speculation, but Manchester [United] are and were not an issue," Kroos told Bild.

The German has only one year left on his current deal with Bayern Munich and has so far refused to sign an extension to his contract, putting talks on hold until after the World Cup.

However, Kroos believes despite all the speculation of him leaving this summer he will stay with the Bavarians for next season.

"I am expecting to play for Bayern Munich next season."

Kroos clocked up 51 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, scoring four goals and providing nine assists.
