Gareth Bale said that he never allowed his confidence to dip despite missing a few chances for Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Bale admits that he was guilty of missing a few chances in normal time, but said that such things can happen in a game of football and he never allowed his confidence to dip.

“Yes, it happens in football; you have days where you just miss a few chances, but the most important thing is that you don't let it hit your confidence”, the Welshman told UEFA.

Bale’s goal in the 110th minute gave Real Madrid the lead over Atletico Madrid and a further two goals by Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a 4-1 and with that the Champions League for Los Blancos.

“You just keep going, keep trying, keep shooting, and thankfully one went in, in the end.”

Bale admits that it was a dream come true for him to lift the Champions League and said this time it is extra special as Los Merengues’ complete the fabled La Decima.

“A dream come true, literally. When you're a little boy you dream of lifting the Champions League, and to lift the tenth one for Real Madrid is special. It's one that will go down in history.”

Real Madrid were the pioneers of the Champions League/European Cup and won the first five editions of the tournament. They have won the trophy a record ten times and AC Milan are second on the list with seven triumphs.
