The possibility of selling Samir Handanovic has led Inter Milan to look for a goalkeeping option this summer and Lazio’s Federico Marchetti, also an Arsenal target, has emerged as the top contender.

Marchetti is an experienced goalkeeper in Serie A and has also earned eleven caps for Italy.

Inter may sell Handanovic this summer if they receive a suitable offer and therefore have kept tabs on the 31-year-old shot-stopper from Lazio.

Marchetti still has two years left on his contract with the club from Rome, but if Inter come calling, he might well decide to make a move to Milan.

It is believed that Lazio will listen to offers for their shot-stopper but the transfer fee has to be close to the €10m mark, according to Il Messaggero.

Arsenal have shown an interest in bringing in an experienced goalkeeper to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny and have looked at Marchetti as an option.

However, Inter and Arsenal both need to match Lazio’s valuation of the 31-year-old to conclude any deal.

Marchetti clocked up 21 league appearances for Lazio this season, conceding 29 goals and keeping six clean sheets.
