West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has expressed his excitement about the Hammers' opening fixture against Tottenham Hotspur during the 2014/15 season.

The match, scheduled to played on the 16th August, will present Sam Allardyce and his team with a unique opportunity to win four in a row against the north Londoners.

Not only did the Hammers complete the double in the league last year, but they also managed to beat Tottenham 2-1 in the League Cup, thus maintaining a 100% win record against their relatively strong opponents during the 2013/14 season.

The excitement therefore is visibly high before the start of a new campaign.

"The three victories against Spurs were undoubtedly the highlight of last season", Sullivan told West Ham's official site.

"I'm really pleased we've been handed another fixture with them so early this season.

"They will obviously be fired up for the game after what happened last season and you can never be sure how a team with a new manager in charge will start.

"It could be that it takes some time for his new ideas to embed themselves in the team so we've got to try to take advantage of any uncertainty they may have."
