Bayern Munich are looking at snapping up Pepe Reina from Liverpool as an experienced understudy to Manuel Neuer.

Reina is highly rated by Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, who is on the lookout for a reliable shot-stopper to provide cover for World Cup winner Neuer.

The Spaniard spent last term away from Liverpool on loan at Italian side Napoli, but returned to Merseyside this summer.

However, the path to a regular starting spot is blocked and Bayern Munich have spied an opportunity, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

Liverpool want a fee of €5m to sell the former Villarreal custodian, an amount the Bavarians are not willing to fork out.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool soften their stance over Reina, especially with the custodian one of the club's highest earners.

The goalkeeper headed to the World Cup earlier this summer with Spain.
