Leeds United academy chief Neil Redfearn believes the club's young foreign players who arrived over the summer are lucky to have been drafted into one of the "best academies in the country".

Redfearn recently had a spell as caretaker of the senior side, leading Leeds to three wins and one draw during his four Championship games in charge.

He is now back heading up the academy and working with the club's Under-21 crop, which has been bolstered by a number of arrivals from abroad.

Leeds named a number of the starlets in their Under-21 Premier League Cup clash against Doncaster Rovers last night, which saw the Whites run out comprehensive 6-0 winners.

19-year-old Dario Del Fabro (defender), 20-year-old Adryan (midfielder) and 21-year-old Brian Montenegro (forward) all played against Doncaster, though 19-year-old Zan Benedicic (midfielder) was absent.

And while Redfearn is happy with the new arrivals' application, he does believe they are very fortunate to have joined Leeds.

"It's working to be fair. These are good young players and their attitude has been first class. They've come in and they've adapted to a change in culture", he explained to LUTV.

"But to be fair they are lucky in that they are coming to a top, top academy. This is one of the best academies in the country. So they're coming in to a good set of circumstances.

"They are obviously technically very gifted, you can see that, and it's good for our young players to be mixing with them, and they've gone hand in hand I think", Redfearn added.
