Leeds United forward Nicky Ajose has been showered with praise by Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis after scoring yet again for the Railwaymen.

Ajose is on loan at Gresty Road until the end of the season after falling out of favour with Leeds. He has been in sensational form for Crewe, firing the strugglers clear of the League One relegation zone.

Last night he finished off a cross from Marcus Haber to help Crewe to a 1-0 home win over Yeovil Town and also came close to scoring again, hitting the post and then seeing another shot sail wide by mere inches.

He now has eight goals for Crewe and Davis is delighted with his on-loan hitman, telling his club's site: "Nicky was disappointed not to have scored one or two more because he sets such high standards, but he has again come up with another winning goal for us.

"Even when he misses a chance, he still gets in there trying to create and score goals for the team.

"He is always on the move and he is very clever in and around the box.

"He was perhaps a bit unfortunate not to have scored a hat-trick with the one that hit the post and the one he put wide, but he keeps getting in there for us and if he keeps dong that then he will continue to score goals."

Following the game Davis was quick to watch the match again on DVD and explained how Ajose's movement stood out, dubbing it "superb".

"I’ve watched it over again and Nicky’s movement was superb.

"He had to get across two defenders to make sure he got there first and it was another terrific finish from him."

It remains to be seen if Ajose has a future at Elland Road when he returns to Leeds at the end of the season. The Whites snapped up Ajose from Peterborough United last summer.
