Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that the remainder of the campaign is full of tough fixtures which they need to navigate with caution.

Cech has been one of the mainstays of the Blues starting eleven for over a decade since he joined the Londoners from Rennes in 2004. But he has been confined to the bench since the arrival of Thibaut Courtois last summer.

The Czech goalkeeper has played only five Premier League games this season so far as Courtois has ably tended the Blues’ goal to help Jose Mourinho’s side sit atop the Premier League, seven points ahead of their nearest rivals Manchester City.

However, Cech believes that with 13 rounds of matches still to go in the league, Chelsea will have to remain on their toes all the time as their opponents will be fighting tooth and nail to take points off Mourinho’s team.

He equated the Pensioners' remaining games to finals as some of their opponents will be fighting to stave off relegation, some for qualification to the Champions League and some for the Premier League title.

“We have a certain number of finals to play until the end of the season and we have to play many teams that have the same”, Cech told the club site.

“In the run-in we play teams that are in the title race, or fighting to get in the top four, or in a relegation battle.

“That makes it harder every time you come to February and March. You play teams where everybody tries to win the points for their own cause and it becomes more and more difficult.”

Chelsea will look seal an away win when they face Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League round of 16 tie at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
