Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given admits that the arrival of new manager Tim Sherwood has given everyone at the club a point to prove.
Sherwood watched on as Aston Villa edged to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup today and Given revealed that the former Tottenham Hotspur manager visited the dressing room at half time to urge the side forward.
"I've known Tim from our Blackburn days and he's a very positive character", Given was quoted as saying by the BBC.
"He just came into the dressing room at half-time and spoke positively to us."
Sherwood's first official game as Aston Villa manager will be against Stoke City next weekend, at Villa Park. And Given feels that the players at the club know they have a point to prove to the new boss.

"Everyone's trying to impress the new manager and I'm no different", Given explained.
"With the new manager coming on board everyone's got a point to prove.
"We've struggled to score goals so it's nice to get a couple and hopefully we can use this momentum in the league now."
Sherwood takes over a side sitting inside the Premier League relegation zone having collected only 22 points from 25 games so far.
The Villa Park outfit have managed to score just 12 goals in the English top flight all season, something Sherwood will be keen to soon change.
