After Marco Reus’ contract renewal, Manchester United and Arsenal are set to face disappointment in their chase for another Borussia Dortmund player as the club are set to meet Ilkay Gundogan to discuss the terms of a new deal.
Reus’ contract renewal last week came as a shock for his suitors, including Arsenal and Manchester United, who had been long planning a summer swoop for the Germany international.
But Dortmund are not done yet and according to Bild, the club are already planning to discuss a new contract with Gundogan. They are set to meet the player’s representatives in the next few days to draw up a new deal for the German midfielder.
Gundogan has been the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal and the English duo are expected to make a considerable effort to take the player to England in the summer.
However, Dortmund have anticipated their intentions and though they are struggling in the league this term, the club are confident of tying down the German midfielder to a new deal at the Westfalenstadion to ward off interest from England and secure their prized asset’s future.

Though he is not the only midfielder on their radar, it is believed the player features high on both clubs’ shortlist and they might have to turn their attention towards someone else if Gundogan goes ahead and commits to a new deal at Dortmund.
