Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt feels that he is back to his best form after helping the Whites to their second successive league win last weekend.

Mowatt, who turned 20 last week, has scored five times and assisted one goal in his 23 league appearances this season so far as Whites boss Neil Redfearn has placed faith and trust in him.

A product of Leeds United’s youth academy, the youngster feels that he has started hitting his stride in the last two weeks and is now at his best.

“In the last couple of weeks I don’t think I’ve been at my best”, Mowatt admitted to the club site.

A midfielder by trade, Mowatt has been deployed by Redfearn on the left wing, a position that the youngster admits has taken some getting used to.

“I’ve been playing in a different position so I’m getting to know that position.”

Mowatt admits that he is getting fitter which has resulted in his improved performances on the pitch and he felt at his best during weekend’s win over Millwall.

“I’m getting fitter because I missed a few games, but I felt that on Saturday I was back to my best.

“I’ll do a job for the team out there and it’s obviously working as we’ve got a few results. I don’t mind playing out there”, he concluded.

Mowatt will look to continue his goalscoring form when Leeds United face Championship promotion contenders Middlesbrough in their next league fixture on Saturday at the Riverside Stadium.
