Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has been slapped with a four-match ban by UEFA for his sending off against Basel in the Champions League earlier this season.
UEFA have come down hard on the former Benfica star and as a result he will miss both legs of Liverpool's Europa League last 32 tie against Turkish giants Besiktas, starting this Thursday.
Markovic will also be absent from both legs of Liverpool's round of 16 tie in the Europa League, if they can find a way past Slaven Bilic's men.
The Liverpool star tweeted a photograph of himself looking unhappy when reacting to the news, along with the message: "4?"
Markovic, who had a slow start to the season as he settled in at Anfield following his arrival from Benfica, has recently been a regular in Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool side and earned plaudits for his performances.

However, the Reds will now have to progress in the Europa League without the winger, starting with facing Besiktas at Anfield on Thursday before the return leg in Istanbul next week.
Markovic was shown a straight red card against Basel.
