Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes Radamel Falcao is under pressure to deliver at Old Trafford because of the nature of his contract and the money involved.

Since arriving at Manchester United last summer from Monaco on a season-loan deal, Falcao has failed to justify his top billing at Old Trafford.

A meagre return of only four goals this season has done very little to convince Manchester United to make his deal permanent at the end of the season for a fee of around €55m.

Though current and former players have backed the Colombian to eventually come good at the club, the Red Devils are still undecided about signing him on a permanent contract.

Saha believes it is natural that Falcao is taking time to adapt to playing at a new club under a new manager and said that it can often take up to a season for a player to finally get used to a new set-up.

However, the Frenchman also feels that the nature of the Colombian’s arrangement with Manchester United is also getting into his mind and he is feeling the pressure of proving his worth to the club.

"When you are in a different formation or different management then you have to adapt”, the former France international told MUTV.

“It could take three months, six months or maybe a year before you understand it. It happens to even the best players.

"Falcao is under pressure because of his contract.

"As a striker you want to score.

"When there is that amount of money involved you are under pressure."
