Premier League outfit West Ham United have completed the free transfer signing of Brazilian forward Nene.

The former Paris Saint-Germain star was a free agent following his departure from Middle East side Al Gharafa, where he spent two years and scored 21 goals in 44 games.

Nene has penned a contract with Sam Allardyce's men which runs until the end of the season and will join the club subject to international clearance.

The Brazilian has enjoyed spells with a number of clubs including Monaco, Espanyol and Celta Vigo.

However, he shot to prominence with PSG when he bagged 21 goals in Ligue 1 in the 2011/12 campaign, becoming the league's top scorer in the process.

Nene insists he is happy to have signed for West Ham and is relishing the chance to play his football in the Premier League.

"I am very excited and happy to be here. I'm proud to come to a really big club like West Ham and I'm going to do my best to help the team", he told his new club's site.

"I've been thinking about coming back to Europe for a few months because here the football, the ambience, everything is better.

"It's a really good challenge for me, to come to a competition like the Premier League. It's the most competitive in the world so this is the motivation for me."

Subject to clearance, Nene could make his West Ham debut this weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.
