Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has heaped praise on youngster Lewis Cook, who he believes is a "grounded boy" with a bright future ahead of him.

The youngster has been a revelation for the 49-year-old's team this season, having already managed 30 appearances for the Peacocks so far.

The 18-year-old, a product of Leeds' youth academy, has impressed Redfearn so much that he has described him as the best player on the pitch in more than one occasion.

And now the former midfielder has yet again heaped praise on his prized asset by describing him as a "very level-headed" player, in spite of being just 18.

"As a person, he is very level-headed. You wouldn’t think he has just turned 18," Redfearn told his club's official site.

"He’s good a real good outlook on life and how things should be done. His parents have got to take a lot of credit for that.

"He’s a real grounded boy. He’s very driven, he’s never satisfied with what he sees as his best – he always wants to do better."

Redfearn also took time to speak about some of the other home-grown players, such as Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor, who have broken through the first team, insisting that they are players that give an identity to the club.

"The young players that have come in have been outstanding. It’s a real testament to the academy.

"It’s really important for the club and the identity of the club.

"It’s something that supporters can relate to – they like to see their own."

Redfearn's team are currently enjoying a relatively good spell in the Championship, having won four of their last five matches and are currently placed 13th in the league table with 38 points from 31 matches.
