Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind feels the Premier League has a much higher tempo than that he experienced in the Eredivise in Holland and believes the quality of football is also of a higher level.

The Dutch Footballer of the Year joined his former national team manager Louis van Gaal at Manchester United last summer and has become a vital cog in the former Barcelona boss’ team at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old won four back-to-back league titles at the Amsterdam ArenA before he joined Manchester United, but admits that the football in England is completely different from that he experienced in his home country.

Blind admits that he took some time to get used to the higher tempo of the Premier League, which is completely different to the pace he experienced in Holland.

He added that in the Dutch league players have a chance to catch a breather in games by slowing the pace down, but no such opportunities are afforded in England.

“The biggest difference is the Premier League is played at a much higher tempo”, Blind told Inside United.

“In Holland you have some points in a game when you can say ‘okay, let’s have a rest for a few minutes and play the ball around!’

“When I played my first games here, I noticed the difference and was a little tired! The tempo is definitely much higher here.”

The Dutchman also enjoys the more competitive nature of the Premier League when on any given day any team can cause an upset and beat their more fancied opponents.

“Every team in the Premier League is capable of winning against the other team. It’s a higher level and higher tempo", Blind added

“In Holland only really four or five teams are fighting with each other [for the title] – there is a big difference with the rest.”
