Roma are keen to sign former Tottenham Hotspur star and Hamburg playmaker Rafael van der Vaart in the summer.

The Dutch international’s contract runs out at the end of the season and it is widely believed that he will leave Hamburg in the summer in search of a new challenge.

There are rumours that Van der Vaart is keen to get a taste of the MLS and it has been speculated that he is close to agreeing personal terms with Sporting Kansas City.

However, the veteran Dutchman also has another suitor in the form of Serie A side Roma and according to Italian daily Leggo, the Giallorossi are keen to get their hands on Van der Vaart in the summer.

Though they are interested in signing the former Tottenham man, Roma are aware that they might not be able to meet the player’s wage demands. However, they are expected to continue to pursue him until the summer and hope to agree a deal with Van der Vaart.

However, Roma are not the only Italian club who are following Van der Vaart as AC Milan are also looking to scoop up the playmaker on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The former Tottenham man has made 191 appearances for Hamburg and has also earned over 100 international caps for the Netherlands.
