Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has praised the club's supporters for their backing, which was on display at Elland Road this afternoon in a 3-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Redfearn's assistant Steve Thompson was suspended earlier this week, without Redfearn being consulted, and the head coach said he would have to consider his own position at the club.

Leeds' fans chanted Redfearn's name before kick-off and even a 3-0 defeat to Blackburn, with goals from Tom Cairney, Jordan Rhodes and Jay Spearing, could not dampen their spirits or support for the 49-year-old tactician. Leeds also saw Rudy Austin sent off.

It was a miserable afternoon on the pitch, but Redfearn was touched by the support of the Leeds fans, who made clear their backing for him as boss.

He told LUTV: "It was really touching today [the support].

"The lads know as well that the supporters are behind them and we're disappointed with the result, but we know we're going in the right direction", Redfearn continued.

"The team is full of youth and exuberance, and we're going to get beaten every now and then, but we have a good group and a good set of lads and great supporters.

"We've got the best supporters in the land, so we've got a chance."

Leeds' next game comes quickly with a trip to face in-form Wolverhampton Wanderers coming on Monday.

Despite losing to Blackburn, who are tenth, Leeds still sit 14th in the Championship table and only five points off a top ten spot which Redfearn has targeted this season.
