Celtic manager Ronny Deila has lavished praise on Stefan Johansen, who captained the Bhoys this evening in a 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over Partick Thistle.

Partick Thistle put in a hard working performance from the off and kept Celtic at bay in the opening stages, despite the visitors enjoying chances aplenty.

But the visitors' chances took a turn for the worse on the stroke of half time when James Craigen was sent off for a foul in the penalty box.

And Kris Commons poured salt into the Partick Thistle wounds by converting from the penalty spot.

Celtic doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute when Johansen linked up well with John Guidetti, guiding the ball into the corner of the net.

The Bhoys could have extended their advantage, but were happy to see out a 2-0 victory which adds another three Premiership points to their total.

Deila was quick to point out after the match that Johansen's performance had impressed him, giving him no regrets at handing the Norwegian the captain's armband.

"He's an important player, a good player. He's working hard and has good communication with his team-mates", he told a press conference.

"He did a good job tonight and deserved to be captain.

"He's had a good season, but he's stepping up all the time. He's very fit and gets chances at the end of the game as he keeps going.

"He's also improving his technical ability as well and he still has things to work on", Deila added.
