Jordan Henderson has dubbed Liverpool's performance "brilliant" after they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in their FA Cup quarter-final replay this evening, to book a semi-final date with Aston Villa.
The visitors quickly settled into a pattern of dominating possession at Ewood Park and clocked up to 70 per cent of the ball against Blackburn.
But Rovers stood firm and kept Liverpool at bay, despite having to retreat into their own half, a half they struggled to get out of.
As the two sides headed in level 0-0 at half time, it seemed a moment of magic would be needed to win the game.
That magic came in the 70th minute when Henderson combined well with Phillipe Coutinho, giving the Brazilian space to drill a shot into the back of the net, giving Blackburn goalkeeper Simon Eastwood no chance.

Liverpool saw out the game, with Simon Mignolet making a superb save, and leaving Henderson feeling the Reds had bounced back from recent disappointments.
"It was a very important game today, because everyone was disappointed with our performances and results in recent weeks", he told BT Sport.
"But, from start to finish, I thought we were brilliant tonight. I thought we controlled the game and defended well.
"Now we have a tough game against Villa at Wembley – but it gives the club a good lift", Henderson added.
