Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has told the club's young talents that they should stick with the Whites and avoid moving to one of England's biggest sides to potentially warm the bench.

Redfearn, who has nurtured the club's youngsters, both as academy chief and latterly head coach, has seen several linked with moves elsewhere.

Of late both midfielder Alex Mowatt and defender Sam Byram have seen themselves linked with Liverpool, while Arsenal and Manchester United have also been said to be monitoring proceedings at Elland Road.

But Redfearn wants the youngsters to play in the Premier League with Leeds and feels that if they were to head elsewhere they could see their careers stall.

He told a press conference: "They know they can play in the Premier League with Leeds United. They know the future is a lot brighter.

"So the message is just stick with it. Keep playing your football, you're playing first team football.

"What they don't want to do is go to a big club and get lost in the system, because it can happen.

"It's important that they get league games under their belt."

Redfearn has a close bond with a number of starlets at Elland Road having brought them through the ranks. However, the head coach's future at Leeds is unclear, with his position for next season still having not been confirmed by the club.

There has also been continuing speculation about a change in ownership for the Yorkshire giants.
