Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans feels that the Reds reaped the rewards of their strong mentality in the FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers last night.
Brendan Rodgers’ men defeated the championship outfit 1-0 courtesy of a late strike from Philippe Coutinho. The win sees Liverpool progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they have been drawn to play Aston Villa on 19th April.
The Merseyside giants went into the match on the back of their consecutive Premier League defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal which has jeopardised their chances of finishing among the top four in the table come the end of the season.
They struggled to break down a determined Blackburn side until the Brazilian’s strike settled the match in favour of the Reds. And Evans feels that the margin of the wins do not matter in the cup games as long as a victory is secured.
“In cup ties, the biggest thing is you have to get through”, he told LFC TV.
