Burnley midfielder David Jones has stressed that his side are confident of getting a result against Arsenal today.

The Clarets are 19th in the league table and are currently fighting for their survival in the Premier League.

However, a win against Manchester City and a point against Tottenham over the last few weeks have been a confidence booster for the relegation-threatened Burnley squad.

But they are going to host an in-form Arsenal team today at Turf Moor and Jones is aware that they are in for a tough afternoon with Arsene Wenger’s men.

The 30-year-old feels that there is no point in trying to stop Arsenal from playing as they will eventually find an opening but stressed that if Burnley play their brand of high intensity football then a positive result against the Gunners is a distinct possibility.

“Stopping them is a difficult job, but what we’ve been successful at this season is working hard as a team and being difficult to play against, especially at home”, Jones told the club’s official website.

“We feel that if we play our high-energy game it will be difficult for anybody.”

He insisted that as the season has gone on Burnley have become more confident about themselves and with their survival at stake, they are looking forward to the last seven games of the season with a sense of belief that they will be able to avoid relegation to the Championship.

“As the season has gone on, belief has filtered through the whole squad and that’s grown.

“Maybe earlier in the season, with a team like Arsenal coming, we may be on the back foot, but this time we are full of confidence and looking forward to the challenge of these seven games, starting on Saturday.”
