Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is still confident that his side are in with a chance of finishing in the top four this season.
A 2-0 win over Newcastle United last night carried Liverpool to within four points of fourth placed Manchester City. With six games left to play, the Reds are confident that they are still in with a chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Two back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Arsenal pegged Liverpool back in the top four race but Manchester City’s capitulation during the business end of the season has given Rodgers’ men renewed hope in the race for a Champions League spot.
The Liverpool boss is confident that his side are still in the top four race but he admits that he is depending on other teams to slip up in the last few games of the term.
"We feel we have every chance", Rodgers told the BBC.

"Of course, we're looking for other teams to slip up.”
However, Rodgers is confident that there are still some surprises to come in the last few games of the campaign and he stressed that they will continue to fight until the end.
"I am sure there will be plenty of twists and turns to come."
He added: "We're going to fight until the very end. As we saw last year there can be a lot of changes."
Liverpool will take on Aston Villa this weekend at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.
