Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has revealed that he has no plans to retire any time soon, saying that he is still playing at a very high level.

Buffon joined the Old Lady in the summer of 2001 from Italian outfit Parma and over the subsequent years he has come to be regarded among the greatest players in the history of the Bianconeri.




During the course of his career at Juventus, Buffon has gone on to make more than 500 appearances for the club and has won five league titles in the process. The goalkeeper also finished as runner-up in the 2003 Champions League final with the Italian giants.

Now 37 years old, Buffon still remains the first choice goalkeeper at Juventus as well as the Italian national team; both sides are also captained by him.
 


And the veteran has revealed that he has no plans to retire, especially because of the way he has been able to perform at the highest level, adding that he will retire when his performances start dropping.

"At the first sign of slipping, I would be the first to bow out”, he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

“But why bid farewell to football if you are playing well? I think one should stop playing when you go onto the field and see that you are no longer the same person.”
