Leeds United striker Steve Morison insists that the formula to winning is simple in the Championship and a team do not have to be best in the world in order to be competitive.

Neil Redfearn's team succumbed to their fifth defeat in a row as they lost 2-1 to Charlton Athletic in the Valley on Saturday.

The loss increases the problems at Elland Road as the Peacocks desperately look for ways to turn things around and end the season on a high.

And the 31-year-old, who scored the visiting team's only goal of the match in the 40th minute at the weekend, believes that a turnaround in the overall situation is not entirely impossible.

The only thing that his side need to do at this point in time, the 31-year-old insists, is to build on the positives and maintain a good spirit while playing with "some heart".

“This is the Championship, it’s not the Premier League. It’s pretty simple", Morison told his club's official website.

“You play percentages, you run around, you put your body on the line and you win football matches.

“If you’ve not got enough people willing to do that, you’re not going to win matches.

“Sometimes you don’t need to be the best team in the world, you just need some team spirit and some heart.”
