Lewis Holtby says he would play with Hamburg in the 2. Bundesliga, if the club are relegated from the Bundesliga this season.
The midfielder is on a season-long loan at Hamburg from Tottenham Hotspur and though it was claimed in the winter transfer window the deal had been made permanent, neither club confirmed the move and Holtby remains listed on Spurs' players page.
Hamburg are in dire straits in the Bundesliga and sit rock bottom of the table.
The northern German side have lost their last five league games and are two points from the relegation playoff spot. But Holtby will not jump ship if they are relegated.
"I've been quite clear about this club. If that happens I will take responsibility and play for HSV in the second division", he told Bild.

And Holtby has not lost hope of Hamburg stringing a run of wins together to get out of trouble.
"With a win we can get back on track again.
"I also know that our team can stand the pressure, stick together and will succeed."
Hamburg have just five games left this season, with Augsburg (home), Mainz (away), Freiburg (home), Stuttgart (away) and Schalke (home) on the agenda.
