PSV Eindhoven coach Phillip Cocu feels that Memphis Depay could do worse than sign for Manchester United.

Cocu's side have given Manchester United, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain permission to hold talks with Depay. And when an agreement is found between the player and any one of the trio, PSV will then discuss a transfer fee, with realising over €30m being their aim.

Manchester United appear to be in pole position to scoop up Depay, with some in the Netherlands even claiming a deal has been done. The Red Devils also boast Louis van Gaal as their manager, the man who coached Depay at last summer's World Cup for the Netherlands.

For Cocu, Depay could do a lot worse than choose to play his football at Old Trafford.

Cocu explained to Dutch daily De Telegraaf: "I have worked with Van Gaal. He is a top manager.

"The experience [of playing in a big league] is amazing.

"It is important when making a choice to see what plans the club have for you.

"As a player you get a certain feeling and you've got to act on that.

"Ultimately, that's the main thing."

Depay has been a standout performer for Cocu this term and helped PSV to claim the Eredivisie title, ending four seasons of dominance for Ajax.

The winger had identified winning the Dutch title as the main thing he wanted to accomplish before heading to play his football abroad.
