Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed that it is up to Serge Gnabry to force his way into the West Brom team.
The 20-year-old is a highly rated winger at Arsenal and was loaned out to the Baggies for the season in order to provide Premier League experience to the youngster.
However, Gnabry has done very little of note since he moved to the Hawthorns and has only made one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Tony Pulis’ team.
There are rumours that the West Brom manager has also been unhappy with the player, but the club have not decided to cut short his loan move yet.
Wenger is in no mood to recall Gnabry to the club. He is confident that the German has the talent to play Premier League football, but admits that the onus is on the player to convince the Baggies boss about his quality.
“Serge Gnabry is on loan at West Brom for the season”, Wenger said in a press conference.
“I heard that Tony Pulis is not happy with him.
“He has to change the opinion of Tony Pulis because I think that Serge Gnabry has the quality to play in the Premier League. He has shown that.”
Wenger also feels it is good for the development of Gnabry that he is facing such a challenge at West Brom and feels that the experience will make the youngster stronger.
“It’s good that he faces this kind of battle because it will make him stronger if the turns the opinion of Tony Pulis around. I hope that he’s facing the challenge and is putting the effort in.”
