Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has confirmed he does not plan to attend any further games involving the Whites after being hurt by chanting from the fans.

Whites fans took aim at Cellino during Leeds' 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Thursday evening and urged the Italian to sell the club.

He has since agreed in principle to sell his majority shareholding in the Elland Road outfit to Leeds Fans United and now claims he will not attend any further games due to the abuse he has received.

Cellino said via the club's site: "It pains me to make this decision as I have put my heart and soul into this club.

"But what I was subjected to at the Blackburn game left me feeling like I had no other option but to take a step away", Cellino continued.

"After the time, effort and emotion I have given to the club to try and enable us to move forward, it hurt me a lot to hear the fans singing what they did on Thursday night.

"The fans made it clear they believe I am no longer the best person for this job, and for the first time I am starting to think that they may be correct."

It remains to be seen if Cellino will ultimately agree to sell Leeds to the supporter group and it is not yet clear what price the Italian is looking for in order to sell his shares.

Leeds are next in action tomorrow night at home against Cardiff City, a game Cellino will not now be attending.
