Celtic defender Mikael Lustig admits that his side's defence were all at sea against Norwegian outfit Molde in a 2-1 Europa League defeat tonight, but insists manager Ronny Deila should not be blamed.

Molde took control at Celtic Park with 21 minutes on the clock when Mohamed Elyounoussi hit a well struck volley which beat Craig Gordon.

Celtic though were level only six minutes later and had Kris Commons to thank as he converted from close range.

But the Norwegian outfit struck back in the 38th minute, with veteran midfielder Daniel Berg Hestad scoring as he got on the end of a deflected cross.

As Celtic searched for an equaliser in the second half, they suffered a big blow with Nir Bitton being sent off after denying Ola Kamara a clear goalscoring opportunity in the 76th minute.

Celtic were beaten, going down 2-1 to a side with a yearly budget of just under €12m. And Lustig admits that defensively Celtic were not good enough.

He said on BT Sport: "We created a little bit more chances than them, but the two goals we've let in, it's not good enough.

"Against Fenerbahce overall as a team we had a decent performance in defence and individual mistakes. Today we were all over the place and a team like Molde we shouldn't give so many chances."

But Lustig insists Deila should not be blamed and the players back the former Stromsgodset boss.

"The players [should take responsibility].

"100 per cent [we’re behind Ronny Deila]."
