Former England defender Rio Ferdinand believes Chelsea need to find a level of form where they can control games, rather than panic when they go a goal behind.
Jose Mourinho’s men managed to ease some of the pressure on them last night, when they secured a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv at the Stamford Bridge with the help of a late winner from Willian.
Chelsea needed the win to rekindle their European campaign after a few disappointing results, but their league form remains a worry, as they lie 15th in the league table after eleven fixtures.
The Blues travel to Stoke City this Saturday and Ferdinand feels they need to build on their win in Europe, so that they can go on a run of form to regain some of the lost confidence.
He explained that the Chelsea team now look panicked when they go a goal down because their confidence is low and it will only come back once they put together a run of positive results on the bounce.

The former Manchester United defender said on BT Sport: “When you are confident, you are firing in all cylinders and you are in a good run of form and you go a goal down, you say, ‘get the ball out of the net, put it on the halfway line and we’ll score now and come back into the game’.
“This is what Chelsea need to recreate and that happens when you are playing and winning games. They need to control games, rather than panic [when they go a goal down].”
While the Champions League win was a morale booster, Mourinho is aware they he needs to find a way to get their league season back on track and a trip to Stoke City before the international break could be the ideal opportunity for Chelsea to find some rhythm.
