That quickly changed in the second half when Jordon Ibe struck in the 52nd minute.

Ibe drove forward from midway in the Rubin Kazan half and then hit a low shot into the corner of the net to put Liverpool 1-0 ahead.

Rubin Kazan had no answer and offered little going forward throughout the match, allowing Liverpool to claim a comfortable 1-0 win which means if they beat Bordeaux in their next group stage match they will qualify.

"We made only one goal, but that's football. You have to learn to lose in life and win in life and in football it's the same.

"It's always dangerous because they have very tall players and long balls and everything."

The Liverpool manager is happy with his side's current form, adding: "The good thing in this moment is we have the results we need to believe in our strength."
