Steve Evans has hailed Leeds United's comprehensive 3-0 win away at Huddersfield Town this afternoon, but admits he was disappointed with the first 40 minutes of his side's display and let them know so at half time.

Leeds suffered an early blow when defender Liam Cooper was stretchered off following a clash of heads with Scott Wootton in the 15th minute, the Whites bringing on Sol Bamba as his replacement.

The game really sparked to life near the end of the first half when Huddersfield felt Wootton should have been sent off, while Leeds then broke and Stuart Dallas put in a superb cross for Mirco Antenucci to prod home with 50 minutes on the clock; there was eight minutes added on for Cooper's injury.

Just two minutes later it was 2-0 as Leeds broke quickly, Antenucci squared the ball back into the box, which ended up at the feet of Chris Wood, who made no mistake.

The Whites hammered home their advantage in the second half as Alex Mowatt hit a superb 25-yard effort which sailed into the back of the net in the 54th minute.

Huddersfield did have chances to score a consolation, but could not take them and it ended 3-0 to Leeds.

Evans was pleased, but admits he was disappointed with the opening 40 minutes and told his players at half time.

"I think it was disappointing for 40 minutes, that's for sure", he said on Sky Sports.

"It didn't change what we said to them at half time, the two goals. We said to them when you're playing for this football club it means the world for teams to compete and beat you.

"We rode our luck a bit early doors. First piece of quality we score a goal, second piece of quality we get a second goal."

And Evans hailed Mowatt, saying: "The boy Mowatt was on the floor when I walked in. I've worked so hard to lift him – he knows what I think of him, I don't need to say it on television."
