Leeds United midfielder Casper Sloth has dismissed the thought that his performances for the club's Under-21s were responsible for earning him a spot on the bench against Cardiff City.

Sloth, who has cut a frustrated figure on the fringes at the Yorkshire club, was picked as one of the substitutes for Leeds' 1-0 win over Cardiff at Elland Road earlier this month.

He scored for Leeds Under-21s in a 2-1 victory away at Coventry City yesterday and was challenged by LUTV after the match that his performances must be being noted by the management as he earned a spot on the bench against the Bluebirds.

But Sloth does not agree and feels he was only picked on the bench because of a shortage of players in the first team.

"To be fair I only think I was there [on the bench against Cardiff] because there were so few players available", the Denmark midfielder said.

Nevertheless, Sloth feels all he can do is continue to give his all in the Under-21s in the hopes of forcing his way back into the reckoning with the senior team.

"But I don't know. I just keep doing what I can do here [with the Under-21s]. I can't really change anything else", he added.

Sloth was snapped up by Leeds from Danish side AGF, but the midfielder has struggled to hammer down a place in the team under a succession of head coaches at Elland Road.
