Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is to undergo surgery on his injured shoulder after this month’s El Clasico, according to Spanish daily AS.
The 29-year-old picked up the injury during a Champions League fixture with Shakhtar Donetsk in mid-September.
Ramos has since missed six games with the injury, but featured against Atletico Madrid, Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain after taking painkilling injections.
The Spanish international landed awkwardly on his damaged shoulder, which aggregated the injury, after scoring a spectacular goal during his side’s 3-2 defeat to Sevilla at the weekend.
Ramos underwent several tests on the injured left shoulder yesterday, and initial reports suggest that he will have to undergo surgery to rectify the problem.
