Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to shell out in excess of €100m for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Spanish daily AS.

The Premier League champions are struggling this season and are currently 16th in the league with just 11 points from 12 games; and Abramovich feels the Portuguese international can raise spirits and standards at Stamford Bridge.

The Russian’s chase of Ronaldo could be helped by the fact that the 30-year-old shares the same agent, Jorge Mendes, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho, and Chelsea players Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea are, it is claimed, willing to sell Eden Hazard, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, Nemanja Matic and Oscar to fund their move for Ronaldo.

Ronaldo joined Real Madrid from Manchester United for £80m in 2009, and has thus far scored 326 goals in 315 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos.
