Leeds United head coach Steve Evans is happy after his side beat Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in a friendly at Adams Park this evening and hopes the travelling Whites fans enjoyed seeing their team in action over the international break.

Evans named a strong team for the match, but did hand a number of fringe players minutes on the pitch, one of whom in the shape of Lee Erwin opened the scoring in the first half with a neat finish inside the penalty area.

Half-time substitute Sam Byram scored Leeds' second goal in the second half, while the Wycombe goalkeeper was in good form to keep out a number of other efforts throughout the game.

Evans is pleased with the performance he saw from his side and feels there were a number of players who needed to get 90 minutes into their legs.

"We were a bit scrappy tonight and there's a lot of players who haven't played a lot of game time with each other, but we asked for certain characteristics tonight", he said on LUTV.

"I said to the back five at any stage in the game make sure we don't concede a goal – that was to be the case.

"I wanted my front two to work extremely hard, which I think they did. Lee Erwin got a goal, which is great. He is unlucky perhaps not to have a second.

"Their young goalkeeper was making super saves, five or six in a ten minute spell", Evans continued.

"Did we do enough in the final third tonight? I'm not so sure. That's not the strikers. We were in enough good positions. Casper [Sloth] missed a chance, big [Souleymane] Doukara missed a chance, Jordan [Botaka] should do better as well.

"I think overall we were pleased we were able to get 90 minutes into some players that badly needed it.

"Plus we were able to get some more minutes into the likes of [Giuseppe] Bellusci, into big Sol [Bamba], we were able to look after [Gaetano] Berardi, it was good to get Sam Byram back on the pitch. Scott Wootton got another 90 minutes and acquitted himself at left-back which he's not played there that many times."

And the Leeds manager hopes the travelling fans enjoyed watching their side in action during an international break, something which is not usually the case as players are handed time off.

"Overall, a fantastic following from the Leeds United family once again and we hope they've enjoyed it."
