England manager Roy Hodgson has raised concerns over the extent of Michael Carrick’s injury, which he sustained last night against Spain.
The Manchester United midfielder was taken off the field on a stretcher in the first minute of stoppage time after he suffered an ankle injury against the European champions in Alicante.
While England suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Spain, their immediate concerns are about Carrick as the midfielder could be facing an extended period of time on the sidelines because of his injury.
The England manager is concerned that the 34-year-old could have damaged his ankle ligaments and while the extent of the injury has not been determined, Hodgson is not optimistic about the scan or X-Ray the results.
England boss Hodgson was quoted as saying by the BBC: "Michael has got a severely twisted ankle which normally means ligament damage.

"We won't know that of course until he's had an X-ray or a scan, but it doesn't look good."
Louis van Gaal will have his eyes peeled on updates about Carrick’s injury as the midfielder is still a key member of his squad and losing him for an extended period of time would not be ideal for Manchester United just ahead of the busy winter period.
Manchester United will travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford next Saturday.
