Steve Evans thinks that Leeds United fans rightfully expect the club to be challenging for promotion to the Premier League, however the former Rotherham United boss explained expectations in the board room don't always tally up with those on the terraces.
The Scot was drafted in as Leeds head coach earlier this season, succeeding the sacked Uwe Rosler, and tasked with keeping the Whites away from the relegation zone by chairman Massimo Cellino.
Evans, speaking about Championship managers not being given much time to make an impact and the sacking of Chris Powell by Huddersfield Town, explained on Sky Sports News HQ that expectations often vary between fans and the board.
But the Scot was keen to point out that Leeds fans have every right to expect their side to be pushing for a return to the Premier League.
"Expectation in the board room and expectation by the supporters is different things", he said.

"I think when you're at Leeds United the expectation of the supporters, quite rightfully, should be challenging to get into the Barclays Premier League, that's for sure.
"If you're a supporter at Huddersfield, and I think they are a great club under a great chairman, I think maybe your expectations are not challenging to be in the Premier League. But they may be to be in the top half [of the Championship]."
Powell has been succeeded at Huddersfield by former Borussia Dortmund Under-23 coach David Wagner, who is keen to implement an intensive pressing style at the club.
Evans meanwhile has switched his attention away from his side's 3-0 win away at Huddersfield before the international break and to the Whites' next league match, a visit from Rotherham United.
