Zlatan Ibrahimovic is looking forward to next summer’s European Championship after guiding Sweden to the tournament last night.

The 34-year-old scored a brace in Sweden’s 2-2 playoff second leg draw against Denmark in Copenhagen last night, which helped the Swedes to qualify for the tournament with a 4-3 aggregate win.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker fashioned his country’s path to France with a superlative performance last night and was at his effervescent best in his post match celebrations.

There were rumours that the veteran forward might have announced his international retirement if Sweden failed to qualify for the tournament, but after securing a place for next summer’s extravaganza, Ibrahimovic mocked his vanquished opponents, Denmark.

The Sweden captain was quoted as saying by the BBC: "They said they were going to send me to retirement.

"I sent their whole nation into retirement."

While Ibrahimovic refused to confirm that he will retire after next summer’s Euros, the forward did indicate that it could be his last major tournament representing Sweden.

"If I have to finish with the Euros, then that's destiny", added Ibrahimovic.

"Thanks for all the support and see you in France. There's still a few months [before it begins] but we'll be there."

The forward has earned 109 caps for Sweden and has notched up 59 goals for his country.
