Chelsea are keen to sign Boca Juniors forward Jonathan Calleri, who is also being followed by Italian giants Inter Milan.
The 22-year-old forward is making waves in Argentinean football with Boca Juniors and in tandem with Carlos Tevez delivered the club’s 31st league title recently.
Calleri scored 21 goals in all competitions and formed one of the most potent strike forces in South American football this season with the former Manchester United man.
His performances in South American football have also brought the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe and according to Sky Italia, Chelsea are seriously considering the option of taking him to England.
Chelsea scouts have been regularly watching Calleri in action and it has been suggested that Roman Abramovich is ready to sanction the funds to make the deal happen soon.

However, the English giants are not the only players in the market as Inter are also keeping a close watch on Calleri’s progress and are also mindful of Chelsea’s interest in the player.
While the Nerazzurri are not sure Calleri is ready to play in the Italian top tier yet, they are closely following his progress and could be forced to make a move if Chelsea take the next step in the transfer saga.
The 22-year-old has a contract until 2017 with Boca Juniors.
