Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has revealed that he is learning a lot despite not playing regularly this season.

The 20-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Southampton last summer, made 36 appearances in all competitions for the north London club in the 2014/15 campaign, scoring once and providing three assists.

However, Chambers has been sparingly used by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger this season, having managed a total of just six appearances.

But the starlet, who explained that he is learning by staying in the vicinity of experienced centre-backs such as Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny, feels his game will improve if he works hard in training.

“I’m not getting as much game time but concentrating on training, playing with the players that are here is only going to help me improve”, Chambers told Arsenal’s official site.

“Learning from the players like Per and Koscielny, I feel I can talk to them during sessions.

"If I want to get a bit of advice or learn something about the position, I feel it is easy to go up to them and talk to them.

“I can watch them in games and study the way they play and that is only going to benefit me so even though I’m not playing as many games, I’m taking advantage of it and learning.”

Chambers is a product of Southampton’s youth set-up, and made 25 senior appearances for the Saints before moving to Arsenal.

The youngster, who represented England at various youth levels, has also managed to earn three senior caps for the nation.

Chambers' side are due to face West Bromwich Albion in an away Premier League fixture later in the day.
