Bournemouth and Stoke City are considering lodging a bid for Leeds United starlet Lewis Cook in the winter transfer window to test the water.

Cook, who has recently been linked with Manchester United and supported the Red Devils in his youth, is highly rated and has continually been tipped to leave Leeds for a Premier League side.

The Whites though signed Cook to a new contract in May and have continued to maintain he is an essential part of their plans going forward.

But according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds' resolve could soon be tested with Bournemouth and Stoke pondering a move for the stylish midfielder in the new year.

The Premier League pair will be keen to discover what price point may make Leeds consider selling one of their crown jewels, while the Whites' response could be watched closely at Old Trafford.

Cook has so far shown no sign of pushing to leave Elland Road, despite Leeds struggling to make progress towards returning to the Premier League and being embroiled in constant wrangles over the ownership of controversial businessman Massimo Cellino.

A departure for the midfielder would no doubt be strongly resisted by Whites head coach Steve Evans, who is a firm fan of Cook and his talents.
