Rangers striker Kenny Miller is confident that Martyn Waghorn will get over his recent goal drought and the 36-year-old also insisted that he wouldn’t be surprised if the former Wigan Athletic striker scored a hat-trick against Kilmarnock tomorrow.
The Gers missed many chances in their 1-1 draw against Alloa Athletic on Saturday and scored the solitary goal through new signing Michael O’Halloran, despite having 24 shots, nine of which were on target.
The 26-year-old former Wigan Athletic striker has now failed to score in the Ibrox outfit’s last five games.
Waghorn has 27 goals to his name from 33 appearances, along with eight assists and had been in red hot form.
Miller, who has 12 goals and seven assists to his name this season, feels it is unfair to point a finger at Waghorn or anyone else for the Gers’ profligacy in front of goal.

The 36-year-old believes that Waghorn has been phenomenal for the Gers in his first year at Ibrox and is confident that the 26-year-old will come out of this drought sooner rather than later.
Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Miller said: “It’s just something that happens. I don’t think we can look to point the finger at Waggy or anyone for that matter for missing chances.
“The level of goals and the consistency of his play has been fantastic and he’s been phenomenal in his first year at the club.
“He’s maybe going through a bit of a dry spell just now where things just don’t seem to be falling for him, or they are coming off a goalkeeper’s shin, when before they were going through his legs.
“There’s no doubt that a player of the quality of Martyn Waghorn will come through his spell and it would be no surprise to anybody if he were to go out and even score a hat-trick on Tuesday.”
The Gers travel to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup tomorrow night.
