Ex-Leeds United forward Noel Whelan feels there is a dearth of quality players available to be brought in during the emergency loan window.
The Whites, who are currently struggling in the Championship, enjoyed a relatively quiet winter transfer window.
Apart from extending Liam Bridcutt’s loan from Sunderland until the end of the season and roping in Mustapha Carayol on another loan deal from Middlesbrough, Leeds only signed Toumani Diagouraga permanently from Brentford in January.
But with Leeds winning just one of their last eight league games, it has been suggested that Steve Evans may look to bring in further players during the ongoing emergency loan window, with Norwich City’s Kyle Lafferty linked with a emporary switch to Elland Road.
And Whelan, who thinks there is a lack of quality players on offer during the emergency loan window, urged Leeds to improve their goalscoring form as the Yorkshire giants are really struggling up front.

“The emergency loan window is now open, but it all depends on what sort of player you can actually bring in now”, he wrote on the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“If we can’t get them to buy, what’s he going to get on loan?!
“It’s not something where I can see quality coming in to make a difference.
“It would be nice if there was a bit of quality out there to bring in and bolster the side. That would be fantastic.
“But if not, I think they have just to work on what they have got and improve what you have got and try and get that winning mentality and desire to finish the season strongly.
“We’ve got to work on scoring goals as we don’t score enough goals and that’s our problem.”
Leeds, who are currently 16th in the standings, are up against second-placed Middlesbrough this evening.
