Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has been impressed by the signing of new defensive partner Erik Sviatchenko and is of the view that every player will turn out to be important during the business end of the season.
Sviatchenko was snapped up by the Hoops on a four-and-a-half year deal from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland last month and has so far managed a total of four appearances for his new club.
Speaking about his fellow defender, Boyata revealed that he was not really aware about his new team-mate until he arrived at Celtic Park.
However, having shared the defensive duties with Sviatchenko, Boyata has now developed the opinion that the Danish international is a good defender and has only helped to increase their strength on the pitch.
“I didn’t know who he was before he came here but he is a good defender”, Boyata told his club's official website.

Boyata is also of the opinion that the addition of the player has helped increase the competition within the team, which in turn has helped to take their performance levels higher.
“We now have a lot of good defenders in the squad now and that can increase the competition for places and raise our performance levels higher.
“We know it’s a long season. I was out injured and Efe [Ambrose] took my position and now Jozo [Simunovic] was out and Erik has come in so it’s good to have some fresh signings and that can only help us.”
