Leeds United legend Eddie Gray believes the Whites’ performance against Middlesbrough will give the players some confidence ahead of their FA Cup trip to Watford on Saturday.
Boro were overwhelming favourites to beat Leeds last night, but Steve Evans’ side came away with a creditable point against Aitor Karanka’s team, who are currently second in the Championship table, by drawing 0-0.
While Leeds still have just one win from their last nine league fixtures, the performance lifted the players and the coaching staff and Gray feels the point against Middlesbrough will boost their confidence ahead of their trip to Vicarage Road this weekend.
Watford are currently sitting comfortably in the top half of the Premier League table, and with the threat of relegation more or less gone, the Leeds legend believes the Hornets might want to push for a date at Wembley.
But Gray sees no reason why Leeds can’t compete with the Premier League outfit on Saturday.

The Leeds legend said on LUTV, reflecting on the match: “It will give the players a lot of confidence going into the FA Cup.
“That is all that is left for us this season, so you are going to go as far as you can in that. It will be a tough game.
“Watford will have a right go in the FA Cup because they are definitely safe in the Premier League and they will think they have a great chance of getting to Wembley.
“They will make it difficult for us, but there is no reason why we can’t go there, after tonight’s performance, and give a good account of ourselves.
“It would be great to be in the sixth round.”
