Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris feels that the team spirit was key to his team's victory against Manchester City this weekend.

The Lilywhites came away 2-1 winners against the Citizens this Sunday, thus regaining second spot in the league table which they had momentarily lost to Arsenal.

The win wasn't that easy to come by with the Sky Blues having given it their best and having cancelled out the visitors' opener in the 74th minute.

The north London side though bounced back strongly, scoring via Christian Eriksen in the 83rd minute to win the match 2-1 in the end.

Speaking about the team spirit that was on display on Sunday the custodian added that his side would have usually been content with a 1-1 result. But it was the team spirit that made them go for the winner.

“It terms of performance, the spirit was key”, Lloris told his club's official website.

“At 1-1, maybe a team would have given up but since the beginning of the season we have shown a strong mentality and we are ready to suffer."

Speaking about the nature of opposition that teams expect while visiting the Etihad Stadium, the 29-year-old added that it was purely a team win and he is pleased to have been part of it.

“It’s not easy to come here and win. You have to suffer because Manchester City have so many talented players who show their quality and skills, so this is a team win and I’m very pleased to be part of it."
