Former Celtic defender Vidar Riseth believes that Ronny Deila’s reputation for working with young talent will stand Kristoffer Ajer in good stead in Scotland.
The 17-year-old Norwegian trained with the Scottish champions last month, and after few weeks of negotiations the midfielder is set to join Celtic from IK Start at the end of the Scottish season.
The youngster arrived in Scotland yesterday to finalise the details of the deal that will see him wear the Celtic shirt from next season and he will spend the rest of the current campaign at Start.
Despite his tender years, Ajer already has 47 senior appearances under his belt for Start and the former Bhoy Riseth believes the youngster has done well to choose Celtic as the next destination for his career.
He added that Celtic manager Deila’s reputation for having faith in young players and coupled with less pressure to perform at the club in his first season, will help the Norwegian wonderkid to settle down at Celtic Park.

The former Norway international told Norwegian broadcaster TV2: “I think he has made a very good choice.
“Firstly, Ronny Deila is there and he has shown that he is willing to bet on young players, and secondly they are Celtic, who have worked well with young talents in recent years.
“I also believe Ajer will get some playing time and a chance to show off his talent next season, but I do not think he will be a regular starter.
“He is still young and Celtic are buying him for development, therefore, no one will expect too much from him in his first season.”
Riseth joined Celtic from LASK Linz in 1998 and made 56 appearances for the club, before he left to join 1860 Munich in 2000.
